Mirzapur (Uttar Pradesh): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday cornered opposing parties by saying that elections in Uttar Pradesh have turned into an 'Utsav' of freeing the state from the misrule of the Samajwadi Party, Congress and Bahujan Samaj Party.

"After we form the government in Uttar Pradesh, we will waive off farmers' loans in the first cabinet meeting itself. The BJP aims at empowering the agrarian community of the state and to double farmers' income by 2022 when India celebrates its 75th year of independence," Prime Minister Modi said at a rally in Mirzapur.

"Everyone is saying UP assembly elections is a celebration. This election is to celebrate 'mukti' from SP, Congress and BSP. It will decide the future of Uttar Pradesh," he added

Reinforcing his claim to curb corruption in Uttar Pradesh, the Prime Minister said: "Noted Hindi Poet Ashok Chakradhar once said, there are four types of corruption- 'Nazrana', 'shukrana', 'jabrana' and 'haqrana'.We need to free the state from these four types of corruption."

Taking jibe at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Prime Minister Modi said, "He (Akhilesh Yadav) dares me to touch the wires of electricity, but there is no electricity passing through it."

The Prime Minister also cornered Akhilesh on the development agenda in the state.

"There is a lot of potential to develop the state as a tourism hub, but the state government doesn't bother. There is no guarantee of jobs here," he added.

In a veiled attack on BSP supremo Mayawati, the Prime Minister said: "BSP leader took away stones from Mirzapur for building statues, but later, when questioned, the leader shied away and said it came from Rajasthan."

Prime Minister Modi also took a jibe at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi over his 'khaat sabha' that took place in Uttar Pradesh's Deoria in September last year when people had walked away with the cots.

"During the 'khaat sabha', Rahul Gandhi came in contact with an electrical wire and said, don't worry there is no electricity in the wires of Uttar Pradesh," Prime Minister Modi mocked.

Asserting that 'sabka saath sabka vikas' is the main moto of the BJP, Prime Minister Modi said: "It doesn't matter who wins the elections. The question arises who will make the future of the youths better? Who will protect the girls of the state? Who will free the poor people from the poverty in the state."

Prime Minister Modi further said the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh is an opportunity for the youth to ensure safety and progress in the state.
