Lucknow: Circle officer Shreshta Thakur was transferred on Saturday night, days after she fined a BJP leader for not wearing a helmet and arrested five party workers for misbehaving with her.

The video of the cop standing up to a group of BJP workers, seen arguing with her, had gone viral on social media.

Shreshta Thakur who was posted in Siyana, Bulandshahar, has been transferred to Bahraich after local BJP leaders complained against her.

Ms Thakur was conducting a check in Siyana on June 22 when she stopped a motorbike and fined BJP leader Pramod Kumar Rs 200 for not wearing a helmet.

The man allegedly started misbehaving with the officer and boasted of his political clout and that of his wife, a Zila Panchayat member in Bulandshahr.

The BJP leader called other party leaders who reached the spot and heckled the officer.

BJP city president Mukesh Bhardwaj even said that the officer was transferred to “keep the pride of party workers intact”.
