Bhopal: The crucial three-day meeting of RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) was scheduled to be organised at Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh from March 8 ahead of the 2019 general elections.

The meet may take some important policy decisions keeping in view the ensuing parliamentary elections as well as the revival of Congress in some parts of the country, a senior BJP leader told this newspaper on Sunday requesting anonymity. “The brainstorming sessions planned during the meeting are scheduled to deliberate at length the current political and economic situation in the country. Besides, the Centre’s foreign policy and the conflict situation in several parts of the country, such as Jammu and Kashmir and Kerala, may figure in the agenda of the sessions,” sources added.

Usually, the annual meet reviews performances of the RSS and its affiliate bodies and frames policies for them for the coming year, sources said.

Around 1,550 RSS representatives from different “Prants” (state units) of RSS are scheduled to attend the meeting. Besides, around 550 representatives heading offshore units of the Sangh were also going to participate in the meeting.

Earlier last week, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat had made a six-day visit to Madhya Pradesh to hold meetings of the Sangh cadres of the state to get feedback from them on the winning prospects of the 27 sitting BJP MPs of the state, sources said.

He had held discussions with RSS cadres from Malwa, Madhya Prant, and Chambal Prant for three days in Indore in this regard. Later, he had interacted with the Sangh activists of Mahakoshal region at Jabalpur in MP to get feedback from them in this regard.

“The Kshetriya Pracharak (regional head) of RSS here has passed on the feedback to the core committee of BJP in MP in a closed-door meeting here to take necessary action ahead of the upcoming LS elections,” sources disclosed.
