FIR against Prashant Bhushan for 'inflammatory tweets' against Lord Krishna
Panaji: An First Information Report (FIR) has been filed on Tuesday against senior advocate and Swaraj Abhiyan member Prashant Bhushan for his recent 'inflammatory tweets' against Lord Krishna.
The complaint has been filed by ex-Congress leader Savio Rodrigues under Section 124A, 153A, 295A and other appropriate Section under the IPC, IT and NSA.
"I had demanded on Twitter from my twitter handle an apology from Prashant Bhushan and had given him 48 hours to delete the tweet and apologize for his outraging twitter post. He of course failed to apologize to the people of India and shows no remorse," Savio said in his letter to Goa Director General of Police (DGP) Muktesh Chander.
"I am the Christian of the faith and in our faith we are taught to respect all other religious sentiments. More importantly, whether or not the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh has taken good decision on the Anti-Romeo drive in the state, it debates of its positives or negatives must be done within the domain of governance without the dragging of religion into the discussion or opinion," he added.
Earlier on Sunday, Swaraj Abhiyan member Yogendra Yadav backed Bhushan and said that people in the BJP and RSS have never understood Indian culture and mythology.
Yadav alleged that it was a deliberate attempt on part of the BJP and RSS to crate this unwarranted controversy.
Meanwhile, Bhushan has on Tuesday apologized and deleted his tweet on Lord Krishna relating him with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's Anti-Romeo Squad drive.
Questioning the 'anti-Romeo' squads formed by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to check on eve-teasing in public areas, Bhushan had earlier on Sunday tweeted, "Romeo loved just one lady, while Krishna was a legendary Eve teaser. Would Adityanath have the guts to call his vigilantes Anti-Krishna squads?"
The special anti-Romeo squads of Uttar Pradesh Police were formed to check eve-teasing after the Yogi Aditynath-led government assumed office last month, fulfilling one of the poll promises of the BJP.
Stressing that his government was firm on upholding the security and dignity of women, Adityanath had said the state-wide drive was launched to free public places of anti-social elements and check incidents of eve-teasing, indecent behaviour and passing of lewd comments at women and girls.
