Lucknow: A Muslim woman was seen outside chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s residence on Monday, patiently waiting for her turn to air her grievance.

When asked by reporters, the woman, Sabreen, who belongs to Sitapur, said that she was a victim of the “triple talaq” system.

“My husband had been harassing me since we got married two years ago. He has been demanding dowry which includes a car and Rs 20 lakhs. I got pregnant and delivered a girl child so my husband has divorced me by announcing ‘talaq’ thrice on phone,” she said.

The woman said that she was confident that the chief minister would ensure justice for her. When told that the matter was sub-judice and the government would not be able to help her, Sabreen said, “I know if the chief minister makes one phone call, my husband will go down on his knees”. Later, she said that the chief minister had assured her of justice.and she was returning home.

Though the chief minister’s Janata Darbar has not been formally started, a large number of people wanting justice have started flocking to the chief minister’s residence every day. Yogi Adityanath, despite his busy schedule, takes out time to meet the people and address their complaints.
