CBI arrests scribe for dubious money deal

The investigating agency on Wednesday conducted raids at eight different places in Delhi, Mumbai, Lucknow and Noida in connection with the case.

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against a Delhi-based journalist Upendra Rai, along with the chief security officer of a private aviation company, on charges of allegedly dealing in suspicious financial transactions and obtaining a security pass from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security by providing false information.

The investigating agency on Wednesday conducted raids at eight different places in Delhi, Mumbai, Lucknow and Noida in connection with the case. According to the FIR, the CBI has claimed that during 2017 Mr Rai received Rs 79 crore and at the same Rs 78.51 crore were debited from his account the same year.

The agency also claimed that the accused purchased a number of cars from the same money and also received Rs 16 crore in one particular year from suspected shell companies to sort out certain cases with the income-tax department.
