CWC set to discuss cow row', Rahul Gandhi elevation
In a bid to match up to the BJP's Hindutva, the Congress leaders, Gujarat state unit chief, have been toeing the BJP line on the cow slaughter.
New Delhi: Apparently confused and at crossroads over cow slaughter ban, the Congress Working Committee, meeting on June 6, is expected to take up the issue and decide the party line.
In a bid to match up to the BJP’s Hindutva, the Congress leaders, Gujarat state unit chief, have been toeing the BJP line on the cow slaughter. The Congress leaders from Gujarat went a step ahead and demanded that cow be declared as “mother of the nation”.
The party may take a line on the issue as a section of the party leaders feel that too much of “cow worship” could alienate the party from the Muslims and the dalits. The CWC could also discuss the long-pending elevation of Rahul Gandhi.
