MP man's arms chopped after dispute over cattle
Bhopal: In a virtual replay of a gory scene of Bollywood blockbuster Sholay, some members of a family in a Madhya Pradesh village tied a man to a tree and then chopped off his arms for daring to enter their house to look for his missing cows.
The village of Pipalawali in Raisen district was witness to the gruesome incident late on Sunday evening.
According to the investigating officer Malkhan Singh Meena, the victim, 35-year-old Kalu Sahu, had gone to the house of Sattu Yadav to look for his cows missing since Friday.
Heated exchanges between them ensued when the victim accused Sattu of stealing his cows. The enraged Yadav family had later dragged Kalu to their nearby farm and tied his hands and legs in a tree.
They then allegedly attacked his hands with a sword, severing his right arm and grievously injuring his left hand, the police said. The attack reminded one of a scene in Sholay in which villain character Gabbar Singh, enacted by Amjad Khan, was seen hacking off two hands of “Thakur”, a role played by Sanjeev Kumar.
A video, which surfaced later, showed Kalu lying in a pool of blood with his legs still tied to the tree and his severed limb lying beside him.
The villagers had remained mere mute spectators to the horrific incident. Kalu’s family later took him the nearby hospital.
