PM Modi will launch programme on January 5

PM Narendra Modi will address a conference of officers in-charge of backward districts on January 5, an official statement said.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will formally launch his ambitious programme ‘Transformation of Aspirational Districts’ on January 5, which aims to bring back to the social mainstream 115 backward districts in terms of various parameters like health, agriculture, education and sanitation.

This newspaper had first reported on November 6 that Mr Modi has envisioned the plan, which is being termed as one of the government’s major social initiatives prior to the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, earlier this year when he had asked secretaries of all union ministries to get cracking on the programme.

PM Narendra Modi will address a conference of officers in-charge of backward districts on January 5, an official statement said.

The Conference on Transformation of Aspirational Districts, organised by Niti Aayog, will be attended by officials who are looking after the transformation of over 100 districts. The event is being organised keeping in view Mr Modi’s vision of creating a New India by 2022, the statement said.
