Labourer from UP killed in J&K firing
The soldiers returned the fire and during the brief exchange, Kumar received serious bullet injuries, the police said.
Srinagar: The unabated mayhem in Kashmir Valley claimed the life of a non-local labourer on Wednesday. The victim, Arjun Kumar, is resident of Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh.
The police said that Kumar, who was only 17- years-old, was caught in crossfire between militants and the Army in the Valley’s southern district of Pulwama.
He was working as a labourer at a local brick kiln. On Wednesday, the men from the Army’s 55 Rashtriya Rifles were collecting data about the residents of Pulwama’s Hajidarpora village when they were attacked with rifle fire by militants.
The soldiers returned the fire and during the brief exchange, Kumar received serious bullet injuries, the police said. It added that he was rushed to a local hospital where from he was shifted to Srinagar’s Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences for specialized treatment but unfortunately he succumbed there soon thereafter, the Pulwama SSP Chandan Koli said.
