In MP, Shivraj files nomination

Mr Chouhan said as the chief minister of the state he always devoted his time for the whole state instead of confining himself to his constituency.

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday declared not to campaign in his home turf Budhni Assembly constituency which is going to polls along with 229 other seats in the state on November 28.

“I want you to take charge of electioneering for me in Budhni. I need to concentrate on other 229 Assembly seats in the state. I will not campaign in Budhni and have decided to hand over the charge of the constituency to you”, Mr Chouhan said while addressing BJP workers in his constituency before proceeding to file nomination papers on the auspicious day of Dhanteras on Monday.

Mr Chouhan was accompanied by his wife, Sadhna Singh, sons Kunal and Kartikey, his election agent Ramakant Bhargava and lawyer Shrey Raj Saxena.

Before arriving to file his nomination papers, Mr Chouhan and family prayed at his clan deity’s temple as well as at the Narmada river in Jait village.

Mr Chouhan regretted that the Opposition Congress has launched a “personalised” attack on him and his family members by making all kinds of “wild and baseless” charges against them.

“Congress leaders take my name day in day out. Had they instead remembered god as frequently as they take my name they would have attained salvation,” he quipped sarcastically.
