Inform about Lokpal's selection committee next meet within 10 days: SC to Centre

The bench of the Supreme Court, rejected Prashant Bhuhan's plea seeking direction to disclose the names of Lokpal selection committee.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday asked the Attorney General K K Venugopal to inform within 10 days, the meeting dates for the selection committee which will appointment Lokpal members and the Chairperson.

The Attorney General told to the bench that Lokpal Search Committee headed by former Supreme Court Judge Ranjana Prakash Desai had recommended three panels of names for appointing Chairperson, judicial members and non-judicial members to the Selection Committee.

The AG told the bench, also comprising Justices S A Nazeer and Sanjiv Khanna, that he will ask the Secretary of the Department of Personnel and Training to ensure that the meeting of the prime minister-headed selection committee is convened as early as possible.

The bench headed by CJI Gogoi turned down Prashant Bhushan's plea seeking direction to disclose the proposed names of Chairperson and members of the Lokpal selection committee.
