BJP agenda to create violence at shrine: CM Pinarayi Vijayan

He alleged that the upper caste lobby had a secret agenda at Sabarimala as the temple attracted a number of people from all castes.

Kozhikode: Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan has lashed out at the BJP saying that it wanted to create violence at Sabarimala destroying its sanctity. “We had said that the BJP was trying to expand its political base by cashing in on the Sabarimala issue by dividing people. Now, the speech of BJP state president P.S. Sreedharan Pillai has exposed it,” he said addressing an LDF rally here on Tuesday.

He said the police had limitations in controlling the crowd at Sabarimala, a place of worship. “Police had to observe restraint as the BJP and RSS have no reverence for the temple. The tantris who seek advice from people like Sreedharan Pillai are having a tough time. It reveals why the tantri family boycotted the meet convened by the government,” he said. Mr Vijayan also slammed the Congress for becoming a puppet in the hands of BJP. “Not a single Congress leader flayed the remarks of Mr Sreedharan Pillai that after the Sabarimala issue there would be only two players—the BJP and the CPM. When Congress president Rahul Gandhi sticks to gender equality, here the Congress leaders have termed it as his personal opinion,” he said.
