Engineering student raped in Jharkhand
ROURKELA: A girl student of a private engineering college in Odisha’s Rourkela city was allegedly gang-raped in Jharkhand, - reports said on Monday. The victim is currently undergoing treatment at the Rourkela Government Hospital. The Government Railway Police (GRP) has started investigation into the incident after registering a case. As per the allegations by the girl, she was waiting for a train at the Rourkela railway station on December 31 to reach Jharsuguda, from where she hails. In the meantime, she met a friend of her brother at the station, who told her to board a particular train along with him to reach Jharsuguda. However, the girl soon realised that she was deceived by the youth as the train was not heading tow-ards Jharsuguda, rather travelling in a different route. The youth advised her to alight from the train at the Lotap-ahar railway station in Jharkhand and take a bus to reach Jharsuguda. However, he to-ok her to a house after both reached the station. Later, five friends of the youth arrived at the house and allegedly gang-raped the girl for two days. They released her on January 1. Following which she lodged a police complaint in this regard. Investigation into the matter is underway.
