Bihar girl raped in front of dad
Patna: The Nitish Kumar-led NDA government, facing attacks over rising crime against women in Bihar, was in for another setback when a horrifying incident of gangrape surfaced on Thursday.
A complaint case regarding the incident was filed on Wednesday by the victim herself, the police said. The incident had occurred in a village under Kodhobari Police Station in Kishanganj district.
The police said that the teenaged victim in her complaint stated that she was gangraped by six youths after being dragged out of her house. The father of the victim was also mercilessly beaten up and tied to a tree where the incident took place.
“As per the victim’s complaint case, the incident occurred in front her father who was held hostage and tied to a tree. Raids are being conducted to nab all the accused”, Kishanganj SP Kumar Ashish Said.
According to the SP, he visited the village where the incident had occurred and also met the victim’s family.
“I am personally monitoring the case. I have met the victim’s father and villagers. All accused will be nabbed soon”, Kishanganj SP said.
The incident has raised serious questions about the state government’s ‘Shushsan Policy” (good governance). In the past one year, several girls have become victims of the attack which led to a major embarrassment for chief minister Nitish Kumar. The Opposition parties, especially the RJD, termed the scenario as “Maha Jungle Raj” and said “Nitish Kumar’s governance policy has failed. There is an atmosphere of fear in the state. Cases of crime against women have gone up in last one year”.
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav who is currently on a statewide tour in a tweet said, “Why he (Nitish Kumar) is silent on heinous crimes? Why he protects rapists and culprits. Any answer Mr. Kumar”?
Sources claim that Tejashwi’s statement was a dig at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his government after Supreme Court on Thursday transferred the trail of sexual abuse of Muzaffarpur shelter home inmates to Saket Court in New Delhi.
According to RJD and Congress party here, the failure of the state government was exposed in 2018 when minor girls were tortured and sexually abused in various shelter homes of Bihar.
