New Delhi: Congress president Rahul Gandhi, who is currently on a pilgrimage to Kailash Mansarovar, is likely to visit Dubai next month. This is a part of the foreign outreach program that is being followed by the Congress President.

The revamped Indian Overseas Congress had last year organized the first visit of Mr Gandhi to the United States of America. In the USA he interacted with students, senators and business leaders. After that Mr Gandhi also visited Singapore, Great Britain and Germany where he interacted with people from all walks of life.

Upon returning from Kailash Mansarovar, Mr Gandhi will be get into the election mode campaigning for Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Chhat-tisgarh and Rajasthan.

Sources said Mr Gandhi will take a couple of days out from his campaigning schedule for Middle East tour. He is expected to address the Indian diaspora during his visit to Dubai and the Congress is said to have already started preparations to make the event successful. The Congress is reportedly hunting to book a stadium having capacity of at least 50,000 people. As per the plan, the Congress hopes to showcase a jam-packed stadium as evidence of Rahul Gandhi's popularity among the Indians in the region.

There are about 34 lakh people of Indian origin in Dubai. Sources said Congress is trying to book Sharjah cricket stadium for Rahul Gandhi's 'Modi-like' event.  PM Modi had addressed a huge gathering at Dubai Opera House in February this year. The Congress is planning a event on the lines of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi.

In his visits abroad Mr. Gandhi has come in for criticism from the BJP for speaking against the government on foreign soil. Former BJP leader Mr. Yashwant Sinha had also tweeted saying that it was a wrong practice started by the BJP and the Congress President should not follow it
