10-day long cultural extravaganza ends with grand ‘torch light parade’ in Mysuru

The event began at 7.03 pm with the national salute with national anthem, to Governor of Karnataka Vajubhai Rudabhai Wala on his arrival.

Mysuru: Curtains came down for ten day long cultural extravaganza, the 409th Dasara festivities with grand “Torch light parade” which left over 33,000 people spell bound at the Bannimantap grounds on Tuesday night.

The event was featured by breath taking military motor cycle display by Dare devils team of Jabalpur (who hold 24 world records) which enthralled the audience. They displayed mastery in driving skills with several stunts including scissor crossing, double crossing, parallel crossing, chest jump among others to the delight of awe-stricken audience.

Later dance by DNA entertainment networks from Bengaluru, (for several Kannada songs on Kannada language, river Cauvery and others) added more colour and vigour entertaining the audience.

It was followed tent pegging, an equestrian show by KARP Mounted police of Mysuru which cheered the audience. M S Anand Singh with his horse Kaaludi, K Mallikarjunswamy with his horse Permia, Mahesh with his horse Kamacho, Chandra with his horse Finishing touch, K S Rudrappa with his horse Chandini, M R Sandesh with his horse Blushing Romeo participated in the tent pegging along with their trainee R Ramesh Rao Gaatge and assistant Krishna.

Later, a lazer Beam show by Prachin Bharath Tourism technologies thrilled the audience. They also came up with formations featuring specialties of Mysuru, and they also depicted feats of BJP governments at State and those of Centre including mission moon and popular programmes including Beti bachao beti padao, swachch bharath and others.

Much more to the delight of audience, the much awaited spectacular torch light parade by 300 trainees from police training school of Hassan, who formed several formations including “Jai Chamundi” among others, with synchronised marching holding torch light tattoos to the tunes of police band mesmerised the audience. And the grand event culminated with synchronised fireworks display to the tunes of music with pyro techniques which cheered the audience.

The event began at 7.03 pm with the national salute with national anthem, to Governor of Karnataka Vajubhai Rudabhai Wala on his arrival. Later Governor inspected the parade waving at the electrified crowd in an open jeep. It was followed by national salute with feu de joie (fire of joy)- a 21 volley fire (21 gun salute) and 21 cannon shots fired from seven brass barrels, amidst national anthem played in three parts.

It was followed by Parade with highly disciplined march past by 19 platoons including, two KSRP platoons, DAR, KSPSF, RPF, KPA, Home guards, two mounted companies, two platoons each of Sevadal, NCC and Scouts and guides and three platoons of Students Association for Road safety from different school children including one platoon of children from police public school amidst the tunes of police bands. The parade concluded with yet another round of national salute.

The parade by all these 19 platoons was led by Dy SP Mounted company, V Shailendra on his horse Saangini. Later parade concluded with yet another national salute. After this, entertainment programme began with Naada geethe by Ananya Bhat and team.
