Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Shashank Shekhar has topped the Indian Engineering Services (IES) Examination 2018 conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

Mr Shehar passed BTech in electronic and telecommunication engineering from KIIT Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar, in 2013. After completing his engineering degree from KIIT,  Mr Shekhar completed MTech from Indian Iinstitute of Technology, Khargapur.

Reacting to his success, he said, “I did not take any coaching for preparation of engineering services examinations. The only reason that I could achieve success in this examination is the study that I had done at KIIT University. There is no point discussing whether only IITians or NITians get better marks, or the engineering services is only for them.”Mr Shekhar said anyone who has patience, dedication and talent can qualify.
