RSS leader kills self over 'caste violence'

In a statement to the police at SMS Hospital, Raghuveer Sharan allegedly said that he was depressed over increasing disharmony in the society.

Jaipur: A local RSS leader who tried self immolation on Sunday died in Delhi on Monday. 45-year-old Raghuveer Sharan Agarwal was reportedly upset with caste violence during Bharat Bandh on last Monday. However, the police suspect that he was perturbed by family troubles.

Agarwal owned a medical shop and was also said to be an office-bearer of RSS in Vaishali Nagar. He poured petrol on his body and set himself on fire at Amrapali Circle in Vaishali Nagar area on Sunday morning. He kept running for nearly 100 meters after putting himself on fire and shouting anti reservation slogan and 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'.

The incident took place around 5 am on Sunday. He left home on the pretext of morning walk early on Sunday and when he reached Amrapali Circle, he poured petrol on his body and set himself afire.

Some people doused the fire by pouring water on his body and rushed him to a hospital. His family members took him to a hospital in Delhi due to this critical condition. He sustained 80 per cent burn injuries.

In a statement to the police at SMS Hospital, Raghuveer Sharan allegedly said that he was depressed over increasing disharmony in the society.
