New Delhi: Jharkhand Congress chief Ajoy Kumar tendered in his resignation to the party high command on Friday.

In a three-page letter, Mr Kumar blamed senior leaders in the state unit for his exit.

Terming the leaders ‘rent seekers’, he wrote, “Their only intention is to grab power, sell tickets or collect money in the name of elections. As a proud Indian and one of the youngest winners of the police gallantry award and having wiped out the mafia in Jamshedpur, I can confidently say that the worst criminals look better than some of my colleagues.”

In the last couple of weeks, the state unit chief was not getting along with former Union mister Subodh Kant Sahay.

In the recently concluded meeting of the Jharkhand Congress, Mr Kumar and the state AICC in-charge RPN Singh had a serious difference of opinion with respect to the upcoming Assembly elections.

Insiders claim that state leaders were dem-anding almost fifty per cent of Assembly segments for themselves of their family members. The Jharkhand Assembly has 81 members.
