Irked health ministry won't send tableau
New Delhi: Disappointed after facing rejections thrice in a row by the defence ministry over their proposed tableau, Union health ministry has decided to take a hard stand and not participate in the Republic Day tableau parade this year.
The decision comes following the rejection of three tableau proposals sent to the Defence ministry in earlier years. “Our proposal have been rejected thrice. So this year we decided not to send-in our entry,” sources in the ministry disclosed.
The ministry had failed to impress the Ministry of Defence last year, with the Defence ministry rejecting the tableau themed on health ministry’s flagship scheme “Mission Indradhanush”. The health ministry officials had made several presentations before the expert committee that comprise of several eminent people from the field of art and culture rejected the tableau”. The issue was even taken up at the “higher level”, but nothing went in favour of health ministry.
Unfortunately, in 2015 and 2014 too Union health ministry’s tableau- themed on government’s fight against polio was rejected for lacking “thematic and creative” content.
The then health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan was very excited as polio was the only disease which had been eliminated after smallpox. But the health ministry’s tableau never got an approval. Instead, in 2015 the ministry of Ayush was approved to make their debut showcasing the traditional forms of medicine on the parade.
