Politics at all-time low in country, rues Robert Vadra
New Delhi: UPA Chairperson Mrs. Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra on Friday jumped into the Rajiv Gandhi controversy. Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mr Vadra said the country’s politics was at an all-time low and desperate measures were visible as the PM made a personal attack on former PM Rajiv Gandhi, accusing him of using a Naval warship for a holiday.
Mr. Vadra wrote on Twitter and Facebook, “Politics at an all time low ...Desperate measures are visible. Hitting out at an assassinated Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, to mislead the people of India. A person who cannot defend himself...”
Earlier this week Mr. Modi had launched a scathing attack on Mr. Vadra without naming him. In a rally in Haryana Mr. Modi said, “Whenever there was Congress government at Centre and in Haryana, they took away the land of farmers at low rates. With your blessings, this ‘chowkidar’ has taken on those who looted farmers to the court.”
He further added, “Now they are nervous. I have already taken them to the door of the jail. Give me your blessings and I will put them in jail within next five years.”
Hitting back at the PM, Mr Vadra in a facebook post said, “I wonder what do you want to achieve by invoking my name, again and again. Simply the nation knows my name is repeatedly used in elections to digress from the failures of your government [and] their own misdeeds.”
Mr. Vadra also alleged that the NDA government has been harassing him for the last five years. "Relentless notices from various agencies, courts [and] tax departments, to simply mentally pressurise me," Mr. Vadra wrote in his facebook post. Mr. Vadra is currently under investigation by the Enforcement Directorate for allegedly having properties abroad.
