Kochi: Kerala has been witnessing incessant rain for the last three days. At least 29 people have died and 54,000 have been rendered homeless. People were forced to move to relief camps after rainwater entered their houses.

After water gushed into their houses, people with the help of rescue teams rushed out of their houses taking whatever came before their hand.

Extending help to those devastated by floods, a blanket seller from Madhya Pradesh who heard about the natural calamity that struck Kerala and the plight of those who lost their valuables in relief camps donated 50 of his blankets to those taking shelter in Iritty and Kannur rescue camps.

Vishnu is one of the many blanket sellers in Kerala who during monsoon, like his colleagues, goes door to door in villages to sell blankets.

What Vishnu did, was something that not many in his position would have thought of.

In another incident that has been circulating on social media, NDRF personnel Kanhaiya Kumar from Bihar deployed in Idukki for rescue mission can be seen sprinting on a bridge to get an infant suffering from high fever to a hospital.

Kumar showed exemplary courage by racing against time to cross a bridge over the Cheruthoni river. He managed to cross the bridge seconds before it collapsed.

The incident illustrates the dedication of emergency responders in the face of this calamity.
