Madhya Pradesh: Principal shifts office to toilet
Bhopal: In a bizarre move, the principal of a government-run tribal residential school in Madhya Pradesh has shifted his office to toilet to make his room available for running classes.
The “over enthusiasm” shown by the principal has landed him in trouble with the local administration mulling disciplinary action against him.
Principal of Pahadi High School in Seoni district, Manish Mishra, who shifted his office to the toilet room “in the interest of students”, was on Tuesday served a show-cause notice by the government in which he has been asked to explain “such an awkward move”.
“He has been served a notice to explain his action of shifting his office to a toilet,” assistant commissioner, state tribal commission, S.S. Markam said. Mr Mishra has furbished the toilet to convert it into his office room. A wooden board has been put on the urinal tubs for keeping office records as well as photographs of some dignitaries. Mr Mishra, however, tried to defend his action saying that he shifted his office to make an additional room available for students. “I have shifted my office in the interest of the students,” he told the media.
Union minister of state for health and family welfare Faggan Singh Kulaste, took a strong exception to it, saying the action would be taken against the principal.
“If the principal faced any problem, he should have drawn it to notice of the authorities concerned. It is not a welcome step. I have called for a report on it, and a suitable action will be taken if he is found guilty,” the tribal leader said.
