1.5 fold more jobs, asserts PM
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised his government’s track record of job creation over the past decade, citing a 1.5-fold increase compared to previous administrations.
The statement came during a Rozgar Mela, where the Prime Minister virtually handed over appointment letters to one lakh newly recruited individuals. During the event, Modi also inaugurated Phase I of the Integrated Complex ‘Karmayogi Bhavan’ in the national capital. The initiative aims to foster collaboration and synergy among various aspects of mission Karmayogi.
Addressing the issue of delays between job notifications and appointment letters, which often led to corruption, he highlighted the government’s efforts to streamline the recruitment process, ensuring transparency and efficiency. Modi stressed the importance of providing equal opportunities to all youth based on their skills and hard work, emphasising their role as partners in the nation's development. Discussing initiatives to stimulate employment, the Prime Minister referenced the Budget announcement regarding the installation of one crore rooftop solar plants, which not only reduce household power bills but also create job opportunities. He also highlighted India's thriving startup ecosystem, with over 1.25 lakh startups, many of which are based in tier 2 and tier 3 cities, contributing to job creation.
Turning his attention to the railway sector, Modi noted ongoing recruitment through Rozgar Melas and outlined plans for modernisation and expansion. He underscored the significant transformation underway in Indian Railways since 2014, focusing on electrification, infrastructure upg-rades, and passenger amenities. The Prime Minister emphasised the importance of connectivity in driving economic growth and job creation, citing investments of Rs 11 lakh crore in infrastructure projects outlined in the recent Budget. These investments, including new rail, road, airport, and waterway projects, are expected to generate further employment opportunities. In addressing reforms in the selection process for paramilitary forces, Modi announced changes to examination procedures to ensure equal opportunities for candidates from diverse linguistic backgrounds.
He also highlighted increased quotas for recruitment from border and extremism-affected districts.
