Bhopal: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday slammed Congress for dismissing all its mistakes in last 70 years with the attitude of “hua to hua (It happened, so what)”, citing the recent comment by party leader Sam Pitroda.

Addressing an election meeting in Khandwa district’s Chingaba-markhan, Mr Modi said that the Congress has developed a tendency of treating its mistakes committed in the last 70 years with “hua to hua” mindset, which has been reflected in the insensitive comment of a party leader (Mr Pitroda) on anti-Sikh riots of 1984.

“Bhopal gas tragedy of December, 2, 1984 had claimed thousands of lives. But Anderson (boss of Union Carbide) was allowed to flee the country in a government plane. If people here will ask why Anderson was permitted to escape, then Congress will say, ‘hua to hua’,” he said.

He also recalled the ban imposed on broadcasting of songs of Bollywood playback singer Kishore Kumar who was born in Khandwa, on radio during Emergency, and said if people would ask the Congress to explain it, then the party would say, “hua to hua”.

The Congress has also adopted the “hua to hua” attitude when its minority appeasement policy led to growth of terrorism in the country, he added.

He said the NDA government at the Centre has endeavoured to strengthen security of the country and warned that the “Mahamilavat” (referring to  grand alliance) might not give importance to security if it returned to power in the 2019 general elections.
