Bhopal: A fast-track court in Chhattisgarh’s Dhamtari district on Saturday sentenced four youths to rigorous imprisonment for 23 years and one month for gang-raping a minor girl. The court disposed of the case in a record nine months.

According to the case diary, Arvind Pal and three of his associates waylaid and then abducted a minor girl from a village in the district when she was on her way to meet her mother on her bicycle on November 25, 2016.

She was forcibly taken to a secluded place in a nearby village by the accused where she was gangraped by them.

The incident triggered a public outrage forcing the Chhattisgarh government to set up a fast-track court to hear the case.

Justice C.L. Patel sentenced the four accused to rigorous imprisonment for 23 years and one month after convicting them in three different charges in connection with the incident.
