185 youths from all three regions of J&K join Indian Army

Gen. Dua congratulated the young soldiers for their immaculate parade and impressed upon them to render selfless service to the Nation.

Srinagar: Another 185 youths from Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday formally joined the Indian Army. Defence spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said the young soldiers who passed out from the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry Regimental Centre in Srinagar’s Rangreth area belong to all the three regions of the state.

“On having completed one year of strenuous training, the youths were attested at a glittering parade at the Bana Singh Parade Ground of JAK LI RC,” he said, adding the passing out parade was reviewed by Lt. Gen. Satish Dua, Chief of Integrated Defence Staff, ministry of defence, and Colonel of the JAK LI Regiment, and was attended by over a thousand parents and relatives of the young soldiers. A statement issued by the Army here said, “The dauntless young soldiers of the regiment hailing from all regions and religions of the state of J&K, marching in precise unison with a singular aim of devoting their lives in service of their nation, singing their regimental song ‘Balidanam Veer Lakshnam’, inspired one and all as their voice echoed in the parade ground”. It also said, “Their salute to the Tricolour with National Anthem playing inspired patriotic fervour in all present”.

Gen. Dua congratulated the young soldiers for their “immaculate” parade and impressed upon them to render selfless service to the Nation. “He praised their contribution towards encouraging more and more youth from J&K to come forward to join the security forces and also highlighted the vital role played by their parents in motivating their wards to join this noble profession,” the statement said.
