Kashi must be amalgam of nature, adventure: PM Narendra Modi

Modi was on his 15th visit to Varanasi, and he gifted projects worth Rs 2,413 crore to his constituency.

Lucknow: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he wanted to make Kashi (Varanasi) “an amalgam of nature, culture and adventure.”

“We have to continue with the development process and also preserve the progress,” he said while addressing a public meeting at Wajidpur village in Varanasi.

The Prime Minister was on his 15th visit to Varanasi, and he gifted projects worth Rs 2,413 crore to his constituency on Monday.

Mr Modi began and ended his speech with ‘Har Har Mahadev” and greeted people on the occasion of ‘Chhath’ in Bhojpuri.

“The season of festivity has come to an end and I am fortunate that I visited Baba Kedarnath on Diwali and today I offered pra-yers to Baba Vishwanath. It is a historic day for all of us. Varanasi should have got these projects decades ago but some people never had their focus on development,” he said.

Mr Modi said that for the first time since Independence, the river network was being used for commerce at this scale.

“It should have happened decades ago. This is proof of the fact that we have firmly focused on development,” he remarked.

The Prime Minister, earlier, inaugurated, an inla-nd port in Varanasi on the Ganga River as part of the centre’s push to develop inland waterways, starting with the stretch of the river between Varanasi and Haldia in West Bengal for navigation of large vessels.
