You can write NEET in Urdu from 2018

Counsel for one of the petitioners alleged that the Centre had not included Urdu as it is against the Muslim minorities

New Delhi: With the Centre expressing its inability to include Urdu language for the students to take the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for this year on May 7, the Supreme Court on Thursday directed the Centre and the Medical Council of India to include Urdu language in the list of languages as a medium for conducting NEET test during 2018-2019.

The court said though it had permitted relaxation of age limit of 25 years it cannot give a direction to include Urdu this year as it will be extremely difficult and holding of any supplementary examination will dilute the concept of NEET.

Counsel for one of the petitioners alleged that the Centre had not included Urdu as it is against the Muslim minorities and the decision was discriminatory, intentional and deliberate. He said 11,000 students in Maharashtra will suffer.
