NCTA seeks clarification for opening park early
Guwahati: The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) has sought clarification from the state forest department for opening the Kaziranga National Park for visitors one month before the schedule.
The national park, which was ravaged by devastating floods this year, was declared open for visitors on October 2. Normally the park remains open from November 1 to April.
The forest minister Parmilla Rani Brahama, agriculture minister Atul Bora and water resources minister Kesab Mahanta were present in a cultural extravaganza hosted by the forest department on Gandhi Jayanti to mark the opening of the park.
The opening without the repairing of infrastructure ravaged by floods has irked the conservationists who referred to frequent warning of the NTCA to the national park authorities.
