Lucknow: Growing differences between MPs and MLAs in various constituencies in Uttar Pradesh are emerging as a major cause of worry for the BJP on the eve of Lok Sabha elections.

According to reports received by the BJP from its own office bearers, disputes and clashes between party MPs and MLAs could cause irreparable damage to the party in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The BJP lawmakers are conveniently blaming each other as well as their own government for lack of performance and delay in ensuring development of their constituencies. For instance, Dhaurahra MP Rekha Verma and Maholi MLA Shashank Trivedi clashed at a public function organised for distribution of blankets, a few months ago.  The two snatched blankets in full public view to claim credit and their war continues till date.

Barabanki MP Priyanka Rawat is known for her volatile temper and the five BJP legislators in the district have no qualms about crossing swords with her. “Their differences have become so obvious that if the MP is attending an official meeting, the MLA stay away from it and vice versa. As a result , most developmental projects in the area are stalled,” said a senior district official.

Bhadohi MP Virendra Singh also faces the ire of local BJP legislators who alleged that the MP rarely visits the constituency and prefers to stay in Delhi which has an adverse impact on the development of the area.
