Didi to meet Mann, Kejriwal on February 22
Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will be going to visit Punjab on February 21 to meet AAP leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwat Mann, to sharpen her strategy to support the farmers' protest and discuss the future of the I.N.D.I.A bloc.
Interestingly, she and Mann have ruled out any alliance with the Congress in their states for the Lok Sabha election. In Delhi, the AAP said it would contest six of the seven seats.
The tour plan came to light a day after Banerjee backed fresh protests by farmers on their way to Delhi, and slammed the police action on them.
Taking a jibe at the TMC chief, state BJP spokesperson Shameek Bhattacharya claimed, “Their stand on the farmers movement is understandable. But their alliance has died. It has entered the autopsy room. So it is better not to talk about it. Ms Banerjee leaves the state sometimes to get some relief from huge pressure here. It is her habit. People are not bothered about it. In the coming election TMC will not be able to cross double digit.”
