MP tribal party wants 3 Lok Sabha seats from Congress

Alwar said Congress returned to power in MP in the 2018 assembly elections with the backing of JAYSS.

Bhopal: Jay Adivasi Yuva Shakti Sangathan (JAYSS), a tribal party of Madhya Pradesh, on Thursday threatened to snap ties with Congress if the latter failed to share three Lok Sabha seats with the party in the upcoming polls in MP.

Former JAYSS chief and sitting MLA Hiralal Alwar who joined Congress before the 2018 assembly elections, told reporters here that the tribal party wanted Congress to share 3 LS seats, Khargone, Betul and Dhar, in lieu of its support for the party in the forthcoming parliamentary elections.

“We have made it clear to Congress that JAYSS will snap all ties with Congress if the latter failed to give three LS seats to the party. We have kept our options open on alliance in the upcoming LS elections,” Mr Alwar, a product of AIIMS, Delhi, told reporters.

“We will give similar offer to BJP for alliance with JAYSS in the forthcoming LS elections in MP,” he added.

Mr Alwar said Congress returned to power in MP in the 2018 assembly elections with the backing of JAYSS.

JAYSS has considerable influence in Mahakoshal region of MP, particularly in Chhindwara Lok Sabha constituency, which is set to be vacated by chief minister Kamal Nath for his son Nakul in the upcoming polls. Mr Alwa has been sulking ever since he was denied berth in the Kamal Nath ministry.
