New Delhi: An electronic baggage tow tractor on Saturday collided with an Air India plane at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport delaying the flight to Shanghai by 45 minutes. According to a senior official, Air India has instituted an inquiry into the incident and the ground staff involved has been derostered. No injuries have been reported.

The incident happened around 11 am when Shanghai-bound AI 348 was parked at IGI. An electronic tow truck-carrying luggage rammed into one of the engines of the Boeing 787 aircraft. The driver, Radhey Shyam, lost control over his baggage trolley reportedly after he pressed ‘accelerator’ pedal accidentally due to bag placed beside driver’s seat.

The said aircraft has been grounded. The driver sustained minor bruises. An alternative aircraft was arranged which took off after a delay of 45 minutes with nearly 210 passengers, said airline’s spokesperson.
