Will not rest until thieves jailed'

PM says political rivals are becoming allies to seize power.

Bolangir: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday came down heavily on Opposition parties, saying they were getting united to destabilise his government as he tried to stop them from “looting” the country’s resources.

He also declared that he would not rest until all the chors (thieves) were put behind the bars.

“For a year, they (the Opposition parties) looted the country’s resources. Now, when my government is trying to take them to task, they are conspiring against me and my government. But, I’m not a man to be threatened. I will not rest until all these chors (thieves) are arrested and thrown behind bars,” Mr Modi said.

Stating that his government’s pro-poor decisions enraged people who used to loot public money, Mr Modi said those individuals were now deprived of opportunities to plunder public money.

Without mentioning the name of the Congress, SP and BSP, the Prime Minister said, “Some parties which in the past fought against each other are now forging an alliance to grab power.”

In an indirect reference to the Congress, the Prime Minister said, “A party which ruled the states for decades opposed us for organising International Yoga Day. They raised questions on erecting the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. They were also against changing the names of some of the Andaman and Nicobar islands. This shows their mindset.”
