Jammu: A Special Police Officer was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district on Saturday.
SPO Khushboo Jan was shot by unidentified gunmen outside her house in the district's Vehil village.
"Terrorists today fired on a woman police Khushboo Jan at her village in Vehil area of Shopian district. She sustained critical injuries and was evacuated to a hospital where she succumbed," said Jammu and Kashmir police in a press statement.
“She suffered critical bullet injuries around 2.40 pm and was rushed to a hospital where she succumbed,” the police added.
Police has registered a case and initiated an investigation in the matter.
