Patna: Alert has been sounded in Bodh Gaya after NIA on Saturday found a bomb planted in the toilet near the Kalachakra ground.

This is the same site where the serial blast had occurred in January 2018. The police said that the NIA launched a massive search operation around the area after one of the blasts accused Dilawar Hussain during interrogation disclosed the location of the bomb.

“A live bomb has been recovered and anything more regarding the issue can be said only after proper investigation”, police told reporters in Bodh Gaya on Saturday.

Sources claim that the security agency is also trying to find whether the bomb recovered on Saturday was the same which was planted by terrorists in January this year. A low-intensity explosion had occurred in January 2018 when Tibetan Spiritual leader Dalai Lama was also present in Bodh Gaya for Kalachakra puja.

The recovery of a bomb from the temple area has once again raised questions on the deployment of security forces. Mahabodhi temple had been the target of terror groups earlier.

In 2013, a serial bomb blast in Bodh Gaya had injured at least six persons including two Buddhist monks. The NIA which investigated the bombings had fund the involvement of banned terror outfit SIMI.

Sources claim that during interrogation, one of the terrorists had revealed that serial blast was carried out to avenge the killing of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.
