Cong ensured India's development: Rahul Gandhi
Bhopal: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday said whatever the country has achieved in the last 70 years was because of his party.
In an apparent counter to Bharatiya Janata Party national president Amit Shah’s poser to him to give an account of his four generations that ruled the country for most of the time post-Independent India, Mr Gandhi said the country has made progress in many fields including agriculture in the past seven decades.
“Questions have been asked as to what my four generations have done for the country,” he observed and added, “Whatever the country has achieved today was because of the past regimes of Congress.”
Mr Gandhi was addressing a public meeting at Datia in Madhya Pradesh after visiting the ancient shrine of Pithambara Peeth there.
Mr Gandhi said Congress always worked for the welfare of downtrodden and farmers in the country.
The Congress president also announced that Congress if returned to power in Madhya Pradesh in the November 28 Assembly elections would waive farm loans.
Further, Mr Gandhi alleged hand of the Union government in fleeing of bank defaulters to other countries.
