Can wrest control of PoK, says Hansraj Ahir

Mr Ahir also claimed that PoK remained part of Pakistan due to mistakes of previous governments at the Centre.

New Delhi: Close on the heels of National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah saying that Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) belonged to Pakistan and it would not allow India to take it back, minister of state for home Hansraj Ahir said on Thursday that PoK was part of India and if wanted we can wrest back that part of Jammu and Kashmir.

Mr Ahir also claimed that PoK remained part of Pakistan due to mistakes of previous governments at the Centre. There is no doubt that PoK is part of India and it is only due to the mistakes of the previous governments that it is still with Pakistan. But if we want and try to get back PoK, there is no one to stop us because this is our right,’’ the minster said during the sidelines of an event in the capital on Thursday.

Meanwhile, speaking at the inaugural session of an International Conference & Exhibition on Homeland Security, Mr Ahir also stressed on the need to develop a robust cyber-security policy.

The minister said the government’s focus towards emerging internal security challenges is highlighted with the recent restructuring of divisions in the MHA, which led to the creation of Cyber and Information Security (CIS) and Counter-Terrorism and Counter-Radicalisation (CTCR) Divisions.
