Madhya Pradesh: Teenager stabbed to death in petty dispute over change of Rs 5

Jabalpur: A 16-year-old boy was killed while his brother and father sustained serious injuries when a man allegedly stabbed them following a dispute over Rs 5 at Tilwaraghat near here, police said on Wednesday.

Trouble began when a roadside eatery owner, Gaurishanker Kesarwani (44), asked Jitendra Vaidehi (50) to pay him Rs 55 for the snacks served to him and his family at a 'mela' on Narmada river banks during Makar Sakranti festival on Wednesday, said Gorakhpur City Superintendent of Police Anjulata Patle.

Vaidehi paid him Rs 50 saying that he does not have change of Rs 5. However, Kesarwani insisted on him to pay the balance and a verbal argument broke out between them, she added.

Vaidehi then pulled out a knife and stabbed Kesarwani in his chest. When the victim's sons Nitin (24) and Himanshu (16) came to their father's rescue, the accused stabbed them also.

The three injured persons were rushed to a hospital where Himanshu died.

"Jitendra fled from the spot. We arrested him this afternoon. Further investigations are on," Patle added.
