Congress to counter BJP with rallies

affron party has lost common man's support, says Sachin Pilot.

Jaipur: The Congress will counter chief minister Vasundhara Raje’s ‘Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra’ through ‘Sankalp’ rallies. Through these rallies, the Congress hopes to expose the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government’s alleged misrule against its claim of bringing ‘Suraj’.

Buoyed by the party cadre’s show of energy and exuberance, Pradesh Congress Chief (PCC) chief Sachin Pilot ostensibly wants to derive benefit from Rahul Gandhi’s visit last week to keep the momentum intact going forward. “The party will organise ‘Sankalp rallies’ in districts over the next one month in the state following the historic success of Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s roadshow and meeting with PCC delegates last week,” he said.

Mr Pilot alleged that the BJP government has lost public support for ignoring the common man after coming to power five years ago. According to him, ‘Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra’ is a desperate attempt to reclaim people’s support despite the fact that government machinery is being misused to gather crowds. “We want people to come along to get rid of anarchism, corruption, inflation, crime and women atrocities under the BJP regime,” the PCC chief said.

The first rally will be held in Chittorgarh on August 24, to be followed by Churu on August 28, Barmer on September 5, Karauli September 10 and Nagaur September 12. Apart from Mr Pilot, former chief minister and AICC general secretary Ashok Gehlot, Dr C. P. Joshi, Bhanwar Jitendra Singh, Mohan Prakash, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Rameshwar Dudi and party’s state-in-charge Avinash Pande will also address these rallies.
