Bhopal: Chief minister Kamal Nath on Tuesday indicated to have unearthed a Rs 600-crore scam happened during the previous Shivraj Singh Chouhan government “in the name of plantation drive along banks of Narmada”.

Addressing a convention of seers organised by spiritual department of Madhya Pradesh government, the chief minister said, “A big scandal was committed in the name of religion (during the previous Shivraj Singh Chouhan government). A whopping Rs 600 crore was spent in the name of plantation drive along the banks of Narmada”.

“A probe is in progress into it,” he disclosed.

Taking a dig at Bharatiya Janata Party without naming the party, Mr Nath said a particular party considered that it had right over Hindu religion and Hindu seers.

“They think that only they have the right over Hindu religion and Hindu seers,” he added.
