Congress panel meets to finalise Gujarat list

General secretary in-charge of the Congress for Gujarat Ashok Gehlot said that the list will be out in two days.

New Delhi: The Central Election Committee of the Congress, headed by party president Sonia Gandhi, met for the second time on Friday to finalise the list of its candidates for the upcoming Gujarat Assembly elections. The first meeting was held on November 10 in which about 70 candidates out of the 182 were cleared by the party. Insiders claim that almost 160 candidates have been shortlisted.

After the meeting, Gujarat Congress chief Bharatsinh Solanki said that the Congress list is expected to be released in a day or two. He added, “We discussed almost all the seats. Since we are looking at a rainbow coalition and talks are on, so in a day or two we will come out with our list.”
