Outrage in J&K over murder of nomadic girl
Srinagar: There has been widespread outrage in Jammu and Kashmir over the alleged rape and murder of an 8-year-old nomadic girl. Protests were held in different parts of the State against the alleged kidnapping and subsequent killing of the girl by unknown persons.
The incident also evoked protests by opposition and a ruling PDP member in the State Assembly, currently in its budget session in winter capital Jammu.
The victim Aasifa missing for the past one week was found dead in Rasana village of Hiranagar tehsil in frontier district of Kathua on Wednesday. The police said that the autopsy of the girl report of the post-mortem performed was still awaited. The hospital sources said that the body of the girl bore serious injury marks, indicating she has been a victim of sexual violence before being killed. The police has formed a SIT to probe the case.
