J&K's ruling PDP activist shot dead by suspected militants in Anantnag

Srinagar: An activist of Jammu and Kashmir’s ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) was shot dead by suspected militants in southern Anantnag district on Saturday.

The police officials said that gunmen barged into the house of the victim Muhammad Ishaq Parray at Ugjan, Diyalgam of Anantnag and shot him from point blank range. He was rushed to Anantnag’s district hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

50-year-old Parray owned a saw mill in the area and was associated with the PDP for past several years. After the incident, the security forces searched the area for assailants but could find them, the officials said.
