'Make Diggy CM' clamour in MP post cutout fiasco

Talking to reporters here, Mr Nath said he had taken note of the 'omission' and sought to offer his apology for the fiasco.

Bhopal: The “cutout fiasco” involving ‘curious’ omission of veteran leader Digvijay Singh in posters and banners erected at the BHEL ground here by Madhya Pradesh Congress to hail party president Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Bhopal on Tuesday, has sparked the clamour for returning the former as chief minister of MP again in micro blogging site Twitter.

Even as Mr Singh distanced him from the campaign to declare him chief ministerial nominee of Congress launched in the social media, MP Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Kamal Nath, interestingly, on Wednesday apologized for the faux pas.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Nath said he had taken note of the ‘omission’ and sought to offer his apology for the fiasco.

Reacting to the campaign, Mr Singh tweeted that “Whoever has started Digvijay4CM is not my well wisher. I have been CM, MP for a decade and there is no question of my going back on my statement that I AM NOT A CM CANDIDATE. I am not someone who would say something and do something else”.

The massive cutouts displayed at the venue of Mr Gandhi’s meeting had featured Mr Nath, and Guna MP Jyotiraditya Scindia besides the Central Congress leaders such as the AICC president and his mother Sonia Gandhi.

Mr Singh’s camp has taken strong exception to the “belittling” of their leader by the party in the state. fearing that this might trigger factionalism in the party ahead of year-end assembly elections in the state.
