Lucknow: A rape victim from Kaushambhi district has written a letter to chief minister Yogi Adityanath, seeking his intervention after the police did not take action against the accused.

In the letter, the girl alleged that a tantric had been raping her from past five years and she had approached the local police but her complaint was not registered since the accused tantric is politically well connected.

The victim further said that the Kaushambhi Police not only ignored her complaints but also thrashed her husband at the police station.

The victim said that in 2013, she had approached a tantric for her treatment. She further added that after she visited the tantric, Ajmal Shah, he drugged her and raped her while she was lying unconscious.

Later, the tantrik baba started blackmailing her and kept raping her for five years. The victim further questioned the police authorities and said that when she had approached the police, they snubbed her and did not even file the complaint.

However, as soon as the news of the victim having sent a letter to the chief minister spread, the Kaushambhi police  said that a case had been registered against the accused under Section 376 and 425 of the IPC and investigations are underway.
