Will give first preference to Jet employees: SpiceJet
New Delhi: Low cost carrier SpiceJet on Friday evening announced some good news for beleaguered employees of financially-ailing carrier Jet Airways which recently shut down flight operations, saying it was giving “first preference” to them for recruitment . SpiceJet said it had already employed more than 500 (now former) employees of Jet Airways comprising over 100 pilots, over 200 cabin crew and over 200 technical and airport staff. Sources said this recruitment had been made in the past one and a half months.
In a statement, SpiceJet Chairman and Managing Director Ajay Singh said, “As we expand and grow, we are giving first preference to those who have recently lost their jobs due to the unfortunate closure of Jet Airways. We have already provided jobs to more than 100 pilots, more than 200 cabin crew and more than 200 technical and airport staff. We will do more.”
The SpiceJet CMD added, “We will also induct a large number of planes in our fleet soon. SpiceJet is making all possible efforts to minimise passenger inconvenience and serve Indian customers who are finding it difficult to get seats in this busy season.”
