Jaipur: BJP chief Amit Shah’s three-day visit to Jaipur starting Friday could not have come at a worse time for chief minister Vasundhara Raje as her government has just brokered peace with the Rajput community, following the shootout of gangster Anandpal Singh.

Farmers’ suicide will also be a talking point in Mr Shah’s interaction with party cadres as well as a cross-section of the society. With a little over a year left for the state Assembly polls, the BJP president is expected to take stock of the party and the government.

He will meet party members, reportedly planning to give a negative feedback about the government’s performance, enlisting caste agitations, law and order issues, farmers’ suicides and demolition of temples in the state capital.

The rival camp has already forced the CM to bow down before the Rajput community after Narpat Singh Rajvi, ex-minister and son-in-law of Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, wrote to Mr Shah complaining about the oppression of the community, following Singh’s encounter.  The anger among the party’s core vote bank may not go down well with the party president.

There is a possibility that another senior leader Ghanshyam Tiwari, who openly rebelled against Ms Raje’s leadership by accusing her of corruption, may also meet the party president to apprise him of his allegations against the CM. The rival camp may also raise the issue of demolition of temples to pave the way for Jaipur Metro.

However, the real concern for the CM would be farmers’ suicides and agitations. Mr Shah’s visit is taking place two days after Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s “Kisan Aakrosh Rally” in tribal-dominated Banswara.

Since, famrers’ suicides have taken centre stage at national level; Mr. Shah would be keen to know how the CM plans to pacify farmers in the state.

Taking no chance, the CM too has made elaborate plans including carefully preparing lists of those scheduled to attend the meetings. The ministers have been categorically told to keep their facts updated so as to be able to respond to the queries. A major presentation is being prepared for the progress of Centre’s favourite and priority schemes in the state

During the three day visit which is second in four years Mr. Shah would spend 50 hours holding as many as 10 formal interactions with different sections. According to sources, just like the previous meeting one and half years ago, he will quiz ministers and senior party functionaries about their work and performance besides taking feedback from the grass roots workers.
